Street Art

Every street in New York City, drawn from OpenStreetMap by the Python package I wrote. Color the map by road type or by how long each stretch of street runs, pick a palette or mix your own, and watch the numbers underneath update: how much of the city is residential, how long a typical block is, how many kilometers of street are in view.

the same map in python
from map_network_viz import *

PALETTE = ["#FFB7C3", "#750D37", "#F57A80", "#F6BD60", "#AAE28D", "#AADABA", "#27BACE", "#F0F2A6"]
generate_map(
    "New York City",
    PALETTE,
    distance_m=5000,
    color_code_by="road-type",
    include_legend=True,
)

Street data © OpenStreetMap contributors. The map covers 5 km in every direction from the center of New York City. The code below the map is the matching call to map-network-viz, so you can recreate whatever you make here.
